Nature bestowed humankind a plethora of compounds to combat variety of life threatening diseases, infections etc. Among these compounds majority of them (approximately two third of organic compounds) are heterocyclic in nature.1 Structures/Cyclic structures bearing at least one heteroatom other than carbon are termed asheterocycliccompounds/ structures. Heterocycles either directly or indirectly nurture the very survival and existence of the human race on the globe. Further, they form an integral part and are widely distributed in ma jority of natural products viz., DNA, RNA, synthetic drugs, dyes, nucleotides, heme, chlorophyll etc. Potential molecules displaying anti-inflammatory,an timicrobial, antiviral, insecticidal, herbicidal, antimalarial, antitumor, antide pressant, fungicidal, antidiabetic, anti-HIV, antibiotic are common in natural products.2-4 Many of these compounds find application the field of materials sci ence, plastics, brightening agents, information storage, supra molecular, poly mer chemistry, organic light-emittingdiodes (OLEDs), photovoltaic cells, con trollable switches, light harvesting systems, molecular wires, liquid crystalline compounds, optical data carriers, semiconductors, andanalytical reagents.5 Be cause of their broad array of applications heterocycles have captured immense interest from both the synthetic and medicinal chemist.
