The spindle cells are fusiform in shape with cytoplasmic extensions away from the nucleus in one or more directions. The length is always greater than the width. They vary in size and have a slightly amphophilic cytoplasm. The nucleus of the cell is round to oval in shape and stains with medium intensity and has a smooth to fine lacy chromatin pattern.
