Sexual desire is defined as a person's urge to seek satisfaction of their
sexual needs. It is influenced by biological, psychological, and social
factors . Biologically, the sex hormones and as sociated
neurotransmitters act upon the nucleus accumbens (primarily
testosterone and dopamine, respectively). Social factors, such as work
and family, and internal psychological factors, such as personality and
stress play a major role in influencing sexual desire. For most nonhuman mammals, mating and copulation occur at oestrus, the most
fertile period in the mammalian female's reproductive cycle, which
increases the chances of successful impregnation. This is also called
heat period and it is instinctive, simple "stimulus-response" behaviour.
This is a set of recurring physiological changes that are induced by
reproductive hormones in most mammalians. Procreation is one of
the basic needs of all living things which is encoded by nature to
ensure the propagation, evolution and spread of a species.
