“Research” is derived from the Latin term “to know.” Research is all about methodical collection and thereafter analysis of facts and gathered information for the advancement of knowledge in any field. It may also be thought of as a scientific trip from unknown to the known. Evidence based knowledge is sometimes contradictory, non-generalisable and inconsistent as it is founded on practitioner’s cumulative experiences, beliefs and preconceptions. Observations in scientific research, on the other hand, are founded on reciprocable and verifiable facts. A scientific statement is based on systematic knowledge obtained via valid research. Thus, research is an original contribution to the present body of literature that advances it. It is the pursuit of knowledge by observation, investigation, comparison, and experimentation.
