There is a very popular Indian slogan “Jal hi Jeevan Hai (water is life)” and this is very apt in current scenario. According to a study conducted by Niti Aayog in year 2018 around 2 lakhs people die per year due to lack of clean water crisis in India and this is expected to rise to 600 million (approx. 40% of Indian population) by 2030. This Global crisis has become challenging for both lower and higher middleincome countries. The scarcity is not due to reduction in the quantity of water but mostly due to worsening of quality so that the percentage of the safe and clean water available is reduced by a significant level.
