There are 12 striated muscles in the pelvic floor, which are located
in three layers. Endopelvic fascia is the bottom of the pelvic connective
tissue that extends from between the internal organs to the pelvic
walls. It is considered the first layer of the pelvic floor. The levator ani
muscles and their ligaments are considered the second layer, also
called the pelvic girdle. It functions as a horizontal plate with a front
opening in the center line. During this pause, the urethra, vagina and
rectum pass. The last layer is the perineal membrane (ie the urogenital
diaphragm) and is located in the hymenial ring. As a result, the urethra

transverse perineal muscles, ischiocavernosus, and bulbocavernosus
are located beneath the perineal membrane. They play an important
role in the continental mechanism
