Odontogenic tumors (OTs) consist of complex heterogeneous lesions that originate from ectomesenchymal and/or epithelial odontogenic tissues and manifest following normal tooth development. They are diverse from hamartomas to malignant tumors with different behavior, histology and even different geographical distribution.[1] Peripheral odontogenic tumors (POT), also referred to as extraosseous or soft tissue odontogenic tumors, manifest the histopathologic characteristics of their central or intraosseous counterparts but arise in the soft tissues of the maxilla or mandible, usually in gingival toothbearing areas.

Dr. Apeksha Jain

Dr. Apeksha Jain graduated as a dentist from D.Y Patil University, School of Dentistry, Navi Mumbai in the year 2020. The following year she was practicing in a dental clinic in Mumbai, Maharashtra simultaneously studying for her postgraduate entrance examination. In the year 2021, she enrolled as a postgraduate resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology at D.Y Patil University, School of Dentistry, Navi Mumbai and is currently in her final year of residency. She also earned a fellowship degree in Aesthetic Dentistry and Occlusion during her master’s course. Research is to see what everybody else has seen and to think what nobody else has thought. She is a two-time second prize winner for best research poster in national conferences and has 8+ publications under her credit in PubMed and Scopus indexed national and international journals.

Dr. Treville Pereira

Dr. Treville Pereira completed his graduation from Nair Hospital Dental College and went on to do his Post graduation from the Government Dental College in the subject of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He has about 28 years of clinical experience and 23 years of teaching experience. He has guided many undergraduate, post graduate and PhD students for various national conferences. He has authored about 152 publications both in National and International journals. He is also a reviewer for numerous National journals including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He is also an executive committee member of the Indian association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists. He is presently working as Vice Dean and Professor and Head, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at D.Y Patil University, School of Dentistry, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.
