This dissertation, “Patient-Specific Implants for Severely Atrophic Ridges,” explores the growing significance of customized implant solutions in the management of severe alveolar ridge atrophy. It highlights how advancements in digital dentistry, three-dimensional imaging, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), and additive manufacturing have transformed the planning and rehabilitation of complex implant cases.
The work discusses the etiology and clinical implications of severe ridge resorption, the challenges associated with conventional treatment modalities, and the need for individualized treatment approaches. It focuses on the concept of patient-specific implants, examining their design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, surgical protocols, biomechanical considerations, and clinical applications.
The dissertation also reviews digital workflows involving cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), virtual surgical planning, computer-guided surgery, and custom implant fabrication that have revolutionized contemporary implant rehabilitation. In addition, it addresses clinical outcomes, advantages, limitations, potential complications, and future innovations in personalized implant therapy.
