Modern Angiosperm Taxonomy

Authors: Dr. Sangram Bandu Sonje, Dr. Kalpit Ganesh Mhatre, Ms. Mary Joseph,
Publish Date/ Year : July 2026 | Format: Paperback | Genre : Botany | Other Book Detail

Taxonomy is often described as the foundation of all biological sciences because it provides the universally accepted system for identifying, naming, describing, classifying, and documenting living organisms. Every discipline of plant science—including ecology, genetics, evolution, conservation biology, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, biotechnology, pharmacognosy, environmental science, molecular biology, and climate change research—depends upon accurate taxonomic knowledge. Without reliable taxonomy, scientific communication becomes inconsistent, biodiversity cannot be properly documented, conservation priorities cannot be effectively established, and sustainable utilization of plant resources becomes increasingly difficult. Consequently, angiosperm taxonomy serves not only as a branch of botanical science but also as the cornerstone upon which numerous biological disciplines are built.
