A low-carbon, resource-efficient, and socially inclusive economy is referred to as a "green economy." Public and private investments in economic activities, infrastructure, and resources that lower carbon dioxide emissions and pollution, enhance energy and resource efficiency, and avoid the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services boost employment and income development in a green economy. Through targeted public spending, legislative changes, and adjustments to tax and regulatory policies, these green investments must be made possible and supported. In particular for the poor, whose lives depend on natural resources, UN Environment encourages development routes that see natural capital as a crucial economic resource and source of public good. In Asia and the Pacific, the green economy idea places a fresh emphasis on the region's economy, investment, capital and infrastructure, employment and skills, and beneficial social and environmental consequences.
