Some research ethics committees operate within research institutions (where they may be known by different names, including “institutional review board” (IRB) or “institutional ethical committees” (IEC)), while others operate on a regional or national basis. The advantage of research ethics committees that operate within research institutions is that they are familiar with the local conditions and can engage in closer monitoring of ongoing studies. The disadvantage is that the committee may feel inhibited from rejecting or requesting significant changes to studies, given the institution's financial interest in attracting externally funded research projects. Regional and national committees are further removed from the site where the research is conducted, but they may provide greater consistency and have greater legitimacy in the eyes of the research community and the public.

Namaste! I am Dr VenkatashivaReddy B a young public health professional. I completed my graduation (MBBS) from Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bangalore in 2009 and post graduation (MD; Community Medicine) from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 2014. Later i completed DNB Community Medicine, 2016, Clinical Research, and Hospital Management Diploma in 2016 and Family Medicine Diploma in 2018. I also received certificates in Epidemics by Pennsylvania State University, 2014, and Vaccine Trials: by John Hopkins University, 2012. I worked as senior resident in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal and as assistant professor in Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Govt. Medical Science and Research Institute, Srinagar, Uttarakhand. I was state consultant for Maternal Health Andhra Pradesh, Unicef in 2018. I am currently working as a Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, NRI Medical College and General Hospital, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh., India. My interests include noncommunicable disease, use of information technology in public health, health policy, program development & evaluation and addressing the persisting and emerging challenges in preventive health care. I have over 30 research publications in national and international journals and projects to his credit. I have Medical Excellence Award by Indian Solidarity Council, New Delhi, India, Vijjay Rattan Gold Medal Award by International Institute of Education & Management, New Delhi, India, Star of Asia Award by International Business Council, New Delhi, India, international scholarship, grant, and numerous prizes to my name. I am author of “A Gleam of Medical Education” and two chapters in Book titled “Community Medicine Practical Workbook”. My innovations of Maathru Samman Pants: An initiative towards “Respectful Maternity Care”is approved by National Program Coordination Committee 2019-20 (NHM) for implementation in the state of Andhra Pradesh for deliveries in Government Health Facilities.
