Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) is a programming paradigm based on the use of objects and
classes. In OOP, software is organized as a collection of objects that contain both data and behavior.
This approach is widely regarded as the most important and powerful way of creating software, in
contrast to conventional functional programming where data is global and insecure.
Objects, which have been around since the 1980s, are fundamental to OOP. They consist of data, in the
form of attributes, and executable code, in the form of functions called methods. OOP encourages
module-based programming, where applications can be broken down into modules and correlated with
high-level, real-world classes for better organization and reuse of software.
Some of the most widely used languages that support OOPinclude C++, C#, Java, Python, Ruby, and
more.
